Last Kids on Earth and the Staff of Doom
It’s not unusual for a successful kids TV show to be turned into a video game adaption, and The Last Kids on Earth is no exception. But does it live up to the same hype as the TV show and book series version my little siblings can’t stop talking about?
Choose between four teenage heroes, the legendary Jack, Quint, June and Dirk to take on a healthy mix of zombies and monsters to find the Staff of Doom and defeat Malondre, the queen of the slime monsters. This game essentially throws you into a Last Kids on Earth episode, allowing you to explore the semi-open world and switch through all four characters to bring the original TV series to life. Each character has their own personal weapons, and blueprints can be found all over the town to enable you to upgrade them into the perfect zombie fighting equipment. Outright games mixed a little bit of RPG with your typical beat-em-up action to create a witty, fun game that you can take on alone or team up with up to four friends to save the post-apocalyptic town of Wakefield as a team.
In my opinion, The Last Kids on Earth is a perfect game for the Nintendo Switch, as it works well with the switch controls, and is an easy game to play on the go. I had not seen any of the TV episodes before playing this game but was still able to enjoy getting to know the characters and the fun backstory to the series. Full of witty jokes and led by young teenagers, this game helps you find the child in you and provides easy to understand gameplay and a good laugh. Even though this is based on a children’s TV show, I can see The Last Kids on Earth being enjoyed by people of all ages, and perhaps something for you to share with the little humans in your life.
So if you’re up for an action-filled, humorous adventure that’s fun for the whole family, I would recommend picking up your own copy of The Last Kids on Earth.
